Brandon Nimmo:
6-23-10 from: - link - Day 1 at TOS: - CF, Brandon Nimmo for the Am. Legion group, showed a quick bat with solid contact and slightly abv ave speed out of the box from the left side, also displayed a solid arm with carry during warmups on the practice diamond. Ran 4.16 and 4.22 and 4.3 on a slight turn on a double.
6-25 from: - http://www.baseballrumormill.com/ - The Tournament of Stars - a showcase event for USA Baseball held every June in North Carolina - is designed to be a forum to compile an 18-and-under team to represent the United States in the IBAF 18U World Championships this July. Keith Law from espn.com recently filed two reports from the event. Here are some highlights from Keith's reports. - •Outfielder Brandon Nimmo needs to get out of Cheyene, WY where he can find a high school baseball team to play with and show his talent
Tristian Montgomery:
6-23-10 from: - link - Day 1 at TOS: - RHP Tristian Montgomery for NABF showed his fantastic arm strength, with some 93's mostly 91's with hard bite on his power cb. Also was in the zone and had hitters swinging and missing. He's moved up on many lists to watch for 2011. I have him ahead of Maples on paper now.
Amir Garrett:
6-23-10 from: - link - Day 1 at TOS: - LHP Amir Garrett for RBI shows a nice lanky frame, listed at 6'5, he's more 6'3 for me with good downhill tilt and velocity was up to 88, slows the arm down on the breaking ball, definitely need to follow him next 3-4 years at the least.
Josh Tobias:
6-23-10 from: - link - Day 1 at TOS: - 3b, Josh Tobias, for Babe Ruth a local kid from Greensboro, did not impress at the plate as his press clippings and I've seen him a couple of times last 2 years. He has good physical numbers, running and throwing wise and he'll put on a bp show. He should hit enough at the next level if he can cut down on his swing. Plus runner, better on the way and solid arm strength, not real big listed at 5'9, more like 5'7 1/2, he may have to move to 2b eventually.
Austin Maddox:
6-22-10 from: - link - For those with an eye already towards 2012, third baseman/catcher Austin Maddox displayed his prodigious abilities in Gainesville this spring. Thought of as a potential first round pick out of high school, Maddox walloped a team leading 17 home runs and has tremendous arm strength. However, Maddox actually had more hit by pitches (8) than walks (7) and still whiffed 41 times. Saying his ability to control the strike zone needs to improve is like saying BP needs to 'improve' cleaning up of the oil spill.

Idiot boy, did you hear Nimmo was the MVP of the Under Armour game today? Guess he doesn't need to play a 22 game high school season to prove he can play. Gain some understanding of baseball and good baseball players. Do you know how many big leaguers are from places with no high school baseball? Ever heard of Mark Ellis, Bobby Jenks, Mike Lansing and Mike Devereaux or how about all the guys from the Dominican and beyond? Another question, how many big leaguers are from places within 120 miles of Cheyenne? Find an Atlas, moron.
normally, I would delete a comment like this, but I wanted to point out to this person that, as in the case of ALL material in the 2011 DRAFT posts, I didn't write anything.
They are all cut and paste paragraphs with the proper link to the proper writer.
I also re-read what was said and it was quite complimentary...
weird
I agree that my comments could be seen as over the top. However, as someone who has spent his entire adult life making Cheyenne a place where players like Nimmo can thrive, how can I not take offense to the comment that Nimmo needs to leave Cheyenne to show his talent. It's truly infuriating. Brandon has been widely regarded as the best player in his class, in the Rocky Mountain front range region, since he was 9. He and his very talented teammates are only unknown to those that don't know much about baseball in this region, which includes the Denver Metro area.
trust me , the writer meant it as a compliment and in no ways meant it against your city...
there simply isn't the scouting world structure in your neck of the woods...
I would gladly offer my home.... then I'd gladly replace him in beautiful Cheyenne...
Mack
That's funny. I don't think his folks are quite ready to put him up for adoption, but if they are you are in a long line, behind me for one. He's a great kid. Just so you know, he and six other Cheyenne kids are playing on a fall team that is based here in Cheyenne. The team is called the WyCo Braves. It is coached by Cheyenne's own Legion Manager, the two best high school head coaches out of Ft. Collins, which is 30 minutes from Cheyenne, and a Braves area scout. There probably is only 1 or 2 other fall programs in Colorado in there league, in terms of interest and talent. Cheyenne kids have every opportunity to be seen that kids from anywhere here on the front range have.
