Cutnpaste: - New Mgr. By 12-1, Jesus Feliciano, Captain Kirk, List of 142 Free Agents, and Francisco Pena

New Manager By Dec. 1

Mets GM Sandy Alderson told the New York Daily News that he is hoping to lock up a manager before the end of November.

It seems that Alderson wants to take his time with the Mets' managerial search. Rangers hitting coach Clint Hurdle is a candidate, as is minor league manager Wally Backman and former Orioles skipper Lee Mazzilli. Ken Oberkfell, Bob Melvin, Don Wakamatsu, Terry Collins and Pete Mackanin will also be considered. There is no clear front-runner at this moment

 Jesus Feliciano:

San Juan Senadores (5-2) - It is still early, but San Juan is hanging with the big boys Carolina because of some pretty impressive pitching. Rene Rivera has a .316 average with two solo homeruns. He is tied for the team lead in runs scored with five. Jarrod Dyson also has five runs scored but he is hitting just .259. Jesus Feliciano is hitting just .238, but he has a league leading seven walks that has allowed him to steal four bases. All those walks and stolen bases has gone for naught as he has only scored once.

Captain Kirk:

After due consideration, I made a ranking change on the Mets prospect list. I jumped Kirk Nieuwenhuis from 14 to 10. I did not change his grade; it is still a C+, and I still think he could end up as a fourth outfielder. But he is younger and more athletic than Zach Lutz and needs to rank ahead of him. That said, I'm worried that Nieuwenhuis' strikeout issue could prevent him from living up to his full potential, so I'm not changing his grade.

 Francisco Pena:

amazin  - STOCK DOWN - To give some perspective, Pena signed about two weeks after another highly sought-after, big-bodied, sixteen year old catching prospect with huge offensive potential inked a deal with a New York club: Jesus Montero. Obviously Pena doesn't have Montero's ability but it gives you an idea of how far he hasn't come since then. Now it's still not time to completely write him off; catching prospects often develop at a slower pace (exhibit A: Geovany Soto) so it would just be dumb to completely give up on the kid but it's taking more and more projection, faith, etc to even visualize him reaching the majors at this point. And although I'd say the Mets' unsurprisingly overaggressive assignments probably really hurt his growth, Pena HAS to show more in 2011, already his fifth year with the organization.
