Press Release: - Savannah 8, Rome 2

The Savannah Sand Gnats defeated the Rome Braves 8-2 Sunday afternoon before 3,620 fans at State Mutual Stadium.



Savannah took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo homerun to centerfield by Darrell Ceciliani (8). The Sand Gnats added another run in the third off of a wild pitch thrown by David Filak to score Alonzo Harris for the 2-0 advantage. Savannah added four additional runs in the fourth highlighted by an RBI triple by Blake Forsythe and a solo homerun by Sam Honeck making the score 6-0.

The Braves made it a 6-1 game in the bottom of the inning on a Jakob Dalfonso single to score Edward Salcedo. Rome added another run in the fifth on an RBI single by Matt Lipka for the 6-2 score. Savannah answered back with single runs in the eighth and ninth giving them an 8-2 lead. Jakob Dalfanso (2) hit his second homerun in as many days in the bottom of the ninth but it was not enough as Savannah wins their third straight over the Braves 8-3.

Gregory Peavey (3-1) gets the win while David Filak (1-3) gets the loss. Angel Cuan gets his first save of the year.
