SP Weekly Update: K/PA

K/PA: - Per IP may be more convenient to look at, but analytically, you should use per PA. The denominator has to be opportunities, trials, attempts. It should not be successes. Doing that, using IP or outs in the denominator, means you are generally doing a ratio, not a rate (H per 9IP is a ratio of hits to outs). Or in the case of K, it’s a rate of outs made by K, which is not generally something you want to know (Tangotiger)

Taylor Whitenton      9     2.31    1.08     .307      3.10     32.6%

-first of all, a reminder... stats in the minors don't tell the whole story

-the log jam in Savannah continues, waiting for an opening at St. Lucie. Whitenton's 32.6% K/PA is very impressive.

-Tobi Stoner was promoted from a rehab in St. Lucie to Binghamton. I'm not sure at this point if the AA assignment is another rehab or not.

-Schwinden continues to impress in Buffalo.

-Familia shows no signs of sowing down at the AA level and Holt had a great outing after three duds.

-projected movement... the Mets seem to be under a lot of media pressure to move Harvey up to AA and it should happen in June. This will open a St. Lucie slot for  Peavey. I really don't see any other movement at this point.
