The New York Giants have Eli Manning and the Yankees Derek Jeter. The surging NY Rangers have Hendrik Lundqvist, the Devils have Martin Brodeur, Islanders have Rick Dipietro, and the Knicks have Carmelo.
Every team in New York has an unquestioned leader, the captain, the go-to guy, the leader in jersey sales, the fan favorite that could never be turned on and would be unquestionably loved and defended even in a slump. However what about the Mets?
In 2011, that man was Jose Reyes. His electrifying season kept the Mets afloat and in wild card contention until July when he got hurt. Even once the team started falling and losing more he still carried the offense on his shoulders. However, its 2012, and Reyes in now in Miami. So who's the fan favorite now?
One would think it would be David Wright, but how can it be? After back to back poor performance and injury filled seasons, the fans started booing him and now some even want him traded. What about Ike Davis? Well of course there's excitement about the kid but it's only going to be his 2nd full season in the bigs. Plus on top of that, we don't even know if he's fully healthy. Johan Santana??? We don't even know if he can even still pitch at the major league level yet. What about R.A. Dickey? It's a possibility. He's performed, he's a genuine guy that the fans love but he's hardly a "superstar" plus he only plays every 5th day. Daniel Murphy? Again, maybe, if he ever learns not to get killed when trying to turn a double play.
What do you guys think? Who would you classify at the "fan favorite" for these new "welfare" New York Mets? Who's gonna be the guy that at least keeps you interested in the 2012 season? Time for a poll!!

I think that Lucas Duda has a good chance of becoming the fan favorite.
Wow sadly I completely forgot about him this morning.
it happens, I completely forget who I am every morning.
Duda or Ike could be... right now R.A. is.
Blogger has a command tht allows you to add more names in a poll, but it doesn't work. I welcome anyone to be converted to an administration role and try and figure this out. Both Santane and Duda shoud have been listed. Maybe even Niese.
I find it is interesting, early on, that Dickey leads Wright.
Wright fans watched all the work by sites like the & train have no influence at all.
Sany and Company are going to deternine the fate on David regard of young fans hold poorly written signs.
The Wright bandwagon has far less cars these days
Duda & Davis...all men love double d's
