5-5-12 - Daily Mets Minors Report

Date: 5-54-12

Johan Santana:

"In order for you to control something, you have to stay there for the whole game, & that’s something that I’m not doing right now."

Monday Niese-Halladay; Tuesday: Batista-Blanton; Wednesday: Gee-Lee

Last night…
            Ruben Tejeda - Intergalactic
Daniel Murphy - No Sleep Till Brooklyn
David Wright - Brass Monkey
Lucas Duda - The New Style
Scott Hairston - Root Down
Ike Davis - Fight for Your Right
Andres Torres - So Watch'cha Want
Josh Thole - Make Some Noise
Dillon Gee - Body Movin'

RHP Barret Loux  6-0 after last night… still sick that the Mets didn’t pick him.

Michael Baron‏@michaelgbaron - In their last seven games, the Mets bullpen has allowed 24 earned runs and walked 14 batters in 25 innings.

Adam Rubin‏@AdamRubinESPN - Hard to believe, but Ike is hitting only 3-for-47 (.064) at Citi Field this season.

Didn’t I say last week that I still don’t understand why the Mets didn’t go after Gio Gonzalez?

Watching “Woodstock” on VH1. I never got there. Two weeks earlier I went to  the Atlantic City Rock Festival. 3-day event had the same lineup, but only around 20,000 people showed up at the racetrack. Joe Gebbia, Norm Shoemaker, and I went to the town of Woodstock instead of Bethel and spent the night getting blind at The Joyous Lake and CafĂ© Expresso. The band was Cat Mother and the All-Nite Newsboys”. Jimi Hendrix sat in. Two weeks later I met my wife at the Newport Rock Festival. It seems like last month.

AAA-Buffalo:

I was so happy to see that Dylan Owen got the start today. I was worried that he would immediately be returned to the pen now that Chris Schwinden is back in Buffalo. Owen has done very little wrong lately and, frankly, has been one of the ‘non-prospects’ that have carried this team into first place this season.

SP Jeremy Hefner now has the 4th lowest ERA (1.64) in AAA.

Game one was just a serious pitcher’s battle… P.J. Walters pitched a 4-hitter for Rochester… Owen went: 4.2-IP, 1-ER, 2.96… Elvin Ramirez had his first scoreless 0.1 (0.00) in AA…

Deolis Guerra’s ERA is still 0.00… oh, that’s right, we got Mulvey back.

AA-Binghamton:

First up, Darin Gorski… Harrisburg broke up the shutout in the fourth… LF Pedro Zapata doubled in a run in the 6th inning and Gorski was done, down 2-1… 6.0-IP, 4-H, 1-ER, 4-K, 2-BB, 2.27… not as spectacular as last season, but this AA and 2.27 is alright by me… Jeff Kaplan (2.0-IP, 0-R,  1.35) is figuring out this AA thing…  that’s only one run in four outings…

No surprises in the lineup, but the Mets do seem to be wasting a little time waiting for C Kai Gronauer (.152) to start hitting again.  Kai was a good buddy of mine on Facebook but has gone silent since his season costing injury last year. He batted .253 in 158-AB so we all thought this was going to be a great season for him. Hopefully, he’s get pissed after reading this and get back on the horse J

            Remember the name Daniel Rosenbaum.

A+ - St. Lucie: -

After four innings SP Cory Mazzoni is throwing a…  err… SS Wilfredo Tovar (.313) doubled in LF Alonzo Harris for the first run…  Mazzoni had a no-hitter going into the 5th but gave up 2-runs that inning… glad I didn’t jinx it…

If you live in Florida and you haven’t seen Cory Vaughn play (8th HR tonight), you better hurry up…

C Blake Forsythe also homered…

A – Savannah:

The first to graduate A-ball could possibly not be a pitcher. In fact, my money is on OF Travis Taijeron who is simply spanking the ball. He’s now 4th in the leage in slugging percentage, which is something considering he plays half of his games in the hitter-unfriendly Grayson Stadium. Don’t be surprise if the Mets don’t tandom him with a Cory Vaughn trip to B-Town.

No one’s going to believe that I wrote the above paragraph before this game started. ‘Tayg’ went 3-hits in his first three at bats, knocking in the first run of the game…

RP Jeffrey Walters gave up three runs but kept his seasonal ERA at 0.00… don’t ask.

SP Michael Fulmer had another QS… 5.0-IP, 0-R, 2-H, 4-K, 2-BB, 3.18…  going to the game Sunday to sit next to Mike and discuss his future while we radar gun together (awwwwww…)
