Cohoon Helps B-Mets Snap Skid, 6-1



BINGHAMTON,NY – Mark Cohoon allowed one run over seven innings to lead the B-Mets past theNew Hampshire Fisher Cats by a 6-1 score Sunday night at NYSEG Stadium. TheB-Mets compiled two three-run innings and went 5-for-8 with runners in scoringposition to snap a three-game losing streak.

Afterthree scoreless innings, the Fisher Cats scratched out their only run of thegame in the top of the fourth. Sean Ochinko doubled to left to start the inningand scored on Brian Bocock’s single to center. It was the only blemish forCohoon on the night.

TheB-Mets had a quick rebuttal and took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth,pounding out three consecutive singles against spot starter Fernando Hernandez.Raul Reyes, on base after a fielder’s choice, scored Binghamton’s first run ona single from Travis Ozga. Juan Lagares plated another run with a single to theright side. Reese Havens capped the three-run inning with a sac fly to center.

Binghamtontacked on three more in the sixth against reliever Sam Dyson. Jefry Martereached to start the frame on a fielding error by second baseman Ryan Goins. Followinga walk to Ozga, Lagares ripped an RBI single to right and Havens singled toload the bases. After Juan Centeno bounced into a run-scoring double play,Pedro Zapata legged out an infield single to plate a run, giving the B-Mets a6-1 lead.

Thecushion was more than enough for Cohoon (3-5) to earn his first win in themonth of May. After allowing a run in the fourth, the lefty tossed threescoreless innings to cap his night. He allowed five hits, walked two and struckout two while matching a season-high with seven innings. Robert Carson workedaround a hit and two walks to post two scoreless innings to cap the win.Hernandez (0-2) suffered his second loss.

TheB-Mets (23-25) complete their Memorial Day Weekend series against the FisherCats tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 PM. RHP Collin McHugh takes the ball againstRHP Deck McGuire. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pre-game show begins at12:50 PM on ESPN 1360 WYOS.
