Cory Vaughn Named League Player of the Week

BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton Mets outfielder Cory Vaughn has been named Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of May 13-19. The California native hit .400 (10-for-25) and led the league with nine RBI during the stretch. He highlighted his week by launching his first career grand slam against the Akron Aeros on May 15.

Selected by the New York Mets in the 4th round of the 2010 draft out of San Diego State University, Vaughn is in his first season with the Binghamton Mets. In 31 games played, he ranks ninth in the league with a .307 batting average and leads the team with 27 RBI and an .892 OPS.

He is the first B-Met to receive the Eastern League honors this season.
Vaughn and the B-Mets (24-19) continue their week-long roadtrip and start a four-game series against the New Britain Rock Cats on Monday night at 6:35 PM at New Britain Stadium.
