Mets Draft Target - RHSP - Chris Anderson

Jacksonville's RHSP Chris Anderson is another of these 'rise up the mock sheets' guys that started out this season on nobody's list. Jacksonville isn't the kind of school that plays the top talent in the nation (Radford, Richmond, South Carolina-Upstate) and their record through 5-14 is 17-34. Still, Anderson turned heads early with his dominant starts. Things have been tougher as the season has gone on, but you have to say he has stood out as the one bright star on a bad team: 13-starts, 7-5, 2.76, 94.2-IP,  92-K

AS A SOPHOMORE (2012): 2012: Made 16 appearances, including 14 starts on the hill as a sophomore … led the staff in innings pitched (88.1), strikeouts (69) and complete-games (3) … pitched six or more innings seven times … struck out at least five batters in four of his final seven starts ... walked only one batter in his final two starts (21.0 IP) ... retired 18 of his first 19 hitters to get the complete-game win vs. ETSU (5/4) ... struck out 10 batters in seven innings vs. Mercer (4/27) ... fanned six and allowed two runs in seven innings at USC Upstate (4/20) ... earned a save at Stetson (4/5) ... recorded a win in relief vs. Kennesaw State (3/25, G2) ... struck out nine and allowed two hits in the final eight frames to get the complete-game win against Western Carolina (3/16) ... tossed seven scoreless frames and fanned five to get the win against Wagner (3/9) ... also batted .264 (32-121) with 16 RBI and five doubles in 36 games in the field … had an eight-game hitting streak (4/29-5/19, G1) … hit an RBI single at B-CU (5/8) ... had a two-run double against ETSU (5/5) ... batted 2-for-4 in each game of the doubleheader against Kennesaw State (3/25) ... recorded an RBI single at Georgia Southern (3/20) … batted 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI vs. Florida A&M (3/2) ...had three hits in first start at Southern California (2/19) … named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) preseason Stopper of the Year watch list ... played summer baseball for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod League … earned A-Sun all-academic honors.

- Jacksonville University RHP Chris Anderson continues to move up as eight scouting directors were at his start last Friday where hit 95 and showed three above average pitches (full report and video coming this week). It doesn’t hurt Anderson and other emerging arms that a couple proven arms expected to go high haven’t met expectations yet this season  http://sbb.scout.com/2/1274034.html

At 6’-4” and 225 pounds, the right-hander has the size and stamina to be a workhorse at the next level, although his stuff hasn’t been as sharp as it was at the beginning of the year. Over 13 starts, he has a 2.76 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 92 K/26 BB over 94.2 innings. His fastball sits in the 91-94 mph range, and he also has shown a slider and change-up that have looked plus at times.

Mack - surprisingly, there hasn't been that much written about Anderson and his stock has fallen in the second portion of the season. There is a good chance that he could fall to #48 and he would be a wonderful pick by the Mets there.
