Is it OK to say FRIGGIN'?
I watched Jake last night. As much as we all love the great Tom Seaver, is Jake...just...better? Is it sacrilegious to ask?
Ask me and I will say it. Last night, Jake looked as good as ANYONE I have ever seen pitch. Yes, better than Seaver.
And, like Seaver, Jake hit homers, too.
OTHER GAME THOUGHTS:
Many are excited to see the Mets hitting the ball where they ain't. Me too. (No, that does not make me part of the Me Too movement).
But when it comes to Brandon Nimmo, just hit it SOMEWHERE, dude. Thirteen Ks already in week one. Didn't Joe DiMaggio once only fan 13 times in an entire season? Oh, and Nimmo will face K-loving Strasburg today. I am guessing Joe's record is safe.
Nido can't hit, and I figured out why. Wilson Ramos is hogging all the catcher hits. MAN, CAN RAMOS HIT!
The Pete and Dom Show continues. Combined, 14 for 32, 11 RBIs? Youza. Mets have to wish they had the DH. And it may be time for Smith, who has done nothing but HIT since Day 1 of spring training, to get some outfield playing time.
The pen smells like pigs reside in it. Starters have been brilliant, as has half the pen. The other half is shades of the 2018 Mets pen. UGLY.
Jeff McNeil tweaked his spring training injury, but after sitting, will start in today's home opener. This team desperately needs a daily dose of Jeff.
Nats trail the Mets by 3 games, AND Trea Turner is out for a month or more with a broken finger. Nats are in trouble.
The Mets are 5-1. The Yanks, just 2-4 against weak teams, fanned 18 times last night. Feel free to kick sand in a Yankee fan's face today. And feed them some Humble Pie, too.

correct on all counts, Tom
Nickel, I am just annoyed Diaz had to be used last night after being foolishly used in the game a few days earlier with a 7-3 lead - preserve the asset. We'll need the real Edwin in October.
Imagine if, on Wednesday of last week, someone told you that after 6 games, Davis, Lagares, Nimmo, and Nido would be 7 for 58 with 25 Ks - and that the Mets would be 5-1? Impossible - but true.
Of that group only Nimmo is to be counted on this season, and Davis is likely to be upstate once Frazier returns.
If, instead of those names, it was McNeil, 4to, Ramos and Alonso, then I'd be amazed at the 5-1.
For me...
I would make some small adjustments now. Remember, we are 5-1.
1. I would replace Nido with d'Arnaud when he is ready to come back. Our depth with a bat in our hands immediately increases.
2. Once healthy, I would return McNeil to my STARTING third baseman, until Frazier or Lowrie returns... then, I would make him my STARTING left fielder
3. I would throw as much cash as necessary to sign relief specialist Craig Kimbrel

Mack goes 3 for 3 there - I agree with every one of those.
If you missed the brilliance of Jake last night, check out the 2 minute video on the Mets web site of Jake - brilliant is an understatement.
