Winter Ball updates below as there were games in the Domincan last night, games still postponed in Puerto Rico.

Per MLB Trade Rumors: The Mets released Sam Haggerty: “The Mets announced Wednesday that they’ve released infielder Sam Haggerty, who’d been designated for assignment last month to open roster space for right-hander Dellin Betances...Clubs typically must resolve a player’s DFA status within seven days..it seems that the holidays delayed the resolution of this particular DFA... He’ll now have the opportunity to talk with other clubs as a result of that technicality, but it’s certainly plausible that he’ll return to the Mets on a new minor league pact.”

Mets 360 discusses players out of position from Keith Miller to Dominic Smith. The author does a nice job documenting these Mets defensive mistakes.

Metsmerized says the Mets shouldn’t be sitting on the sidelines for Josh Donaldson.  They argue that the move would improve the Mets defense and keep him away from the Braves and Nationals.

SNY.TV had Rick Porcello talking about his 2020 expectations. “"What made me want to come here and sign with the Mets, first and foremost, was watching from afar the guys they have and the resiliency they showed last year -- they had a great year," Porcello said in a video interview published Wednesday by the Mets. "I'm looking at Pete Alonso. Jacob deGrom won another Cy Young. There's a great foundation and core of really talented players here, and they were right there at the end -- right on the cusp of getting into the playoffs.

Tony Dibrell really struggled in 2019 in AA. 2020 is a new season but he may well follow the Familia path to the bullpen if he is to make the majors.

If I were Haggerty, I would have my agent scan the major league teams to try to find which team he would best have a chance of latching onto in 2020. Nothing like big league pay.

One thing about Stroman.

I wasn't a big fan of him out of school and would argue this point with David many times.
