Scouting Report - LHP - William “Pico” Kohn

William “Pico” Kohn

LHP      6-5      205      Chilton County HS (AL)

PG -

William "Pico" Kohn is a 2021 LHP/1B with a 6-5 205 lb. frame from Verbena, AL who attends Chilton County. Long athletic build with some present strength and room for more. Short stride out front, pitches tall at release, compact arm action in back that hides the ball very effectively, mostly 3/4's but will get higher in his slot at times. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, hitters don't see his fastball and the velocity plays up. Curveball is his pitch, has tightness and depth and he has feel for the pitch, uses it as his strikeout pitch. Developing change up. Highest level performer in his career and has a feel for pitching and deception in his delivery.

William "Pico" Kohn, LHP, East Coast Sox Founders Club

Kohn might not qualify as a star based on his raw stuff but along with All-American Carter Holton and 2022 ace Dylan Lesko, he has dominated WWBA and high school baseball in Mississippi for the last three years like no other.  What would you expect this championship?  More of the same, of course; a complete game 1-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks in a must win pool play game.  It’s hard to imagine Kohn not being a dominant SEC pitcher at Mississippi State right away with his command of his upper 80s fastball, sharp late slider and fading change up.

 Prospect Worldwide -

William “Pico” Kohn – LHP: Pico is one of my absolute favorite pitchers in the class. Strong build Left-Hander (6’5, 205) with projection remaining. Featuring one of the better overall Curveballs (60 Grade) in the class, and could end up a 70. Heavy downer action at 78-80 MPH. He shows the ability to command fairly well to both sides of the plate and is a weapon vs either LHH or RHH with knee buckling effect. Projectable Fastball sitting 87-90 T92 with ride up in the zone. And a changeup to round out the arsenal shows Below Average at present, but does have potential to move into League-Average Grades. Has some Reid Detmers feel to him, but is throwing harder then Detmers had in HS, and has a big more physical projection in the body and arm where he might have a better FB long-term, although the Command (50) is a tick down from Detmers.
