Someone wrote that Hand wanted to close. Mets couldn’t guarantee he would close
Apparently both Mets and Dodgers offered 2 years but Brad Hand chose the Nationals, as you said, because he wanted to close and because (per Jon Heyman) he lives in West Palm where the Nationals train.
