Josh Pearson

OF      5-10     195      West Monroe HS (LA)

11-11-20 - Prospects Live Top 300 Prospect List -

93. Josh Pearson - OF

Bio:

Height: 5-10

Weight: 195 lbs

Hits/Throws: L-R

Hometown: West Monroe, AL

School: West Monroe

Sturdy, bulldog frame that helps him lift and launch balls out of a lean-heavy swing. It's short and compact, avoiding much swing and miss. Swing can get a little steep at times as operation hinges on spine angle too aggressively. He's an average runner with a below average arm that projects to LF.

PG -

Josh Pearson is a 2021 OF/IF with a 5-10 195 lb. frame from West Monroe, LA who attends West Monroe. Compact strong physical build. Very good runner, 6.51 in the sixty, left field tools on defense. Left handed hitter, hits from a closed stance with a drifting leg lift trigger, rotational swing approach, creates good bat speed and barrel whip, consistently well timed, pull side approach and gets some jump off the barrel. Has consistently performed at a high level at PG events in the past.

 PBR -

11/02/19 - Josh Pearson: OF/2B, (2021) West Monroe, LA.  Louisiana State Commit, 5-foot-10, 195-pound solid frame. At the plate, the left-handed hitter showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 95 mph. Begins in a strong athletic  stance with a big load, then uses a small leg kick to initiate his swing. Had an uphill swing plane and explosive bat speed, and he ended his swing with extension on his finish. Found a lot of barrels in his round. Pull side approach. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 79 mph; had smooth footwork, a clean exchange and sure hands. Showed a high ¾ slot with long arm action. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.76.

 Talking Chop -

Josh Pearson, OF - The younger brother of former Angels third round pick Jacob Pearson, Josh Pearson is a similar caliber hitter with arguably more present pop in his bat. Pearson showed off that bat early on Friday with a strong BP at Fenway, including a homer off the famed Pesky Pole, and had one of the key hits of the day with the below double to the right field wall.

Mack's spin -

Another tough one to call without more info on him.

My guess right now is he will be a late pick on the second day.
