Scouting Report - LHP - Mason Molina

Mason Molina

LHP          6-2          205          Trabuco Hills HS (CA)

11-9-20 - PG -

Mason Molina (2021 Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) The movement and deception that Molina brings from the left side allows him to rack up swing and misses during his outing. Nothing is straight and he can move pitches around the zone well. His big breaking curveball gives him a legit go-to pitch when he needs a strikeout, as he showed over and over in Fort Myers.

Mason Molina is a 2021 LHP/1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA who attends Trabuco Hills. Solid athletic build with good present strength. Simple turn to start his delivery with a high deliberate leg lift, high 3/4's arm slot with good extension out front, solid overall mechanics he's able to repeat. Steady upper 80's fastball with some late life to it, can work effectively to the glove side especially to left handed hitters. Change up is his go to pitch, tunnels it very well with his fastball with short fading life and good arm speed. Gets nice hard spin on a mid-70's curveball. Three-pitch starter with feel and command for his entire arsenal. Showed big arm strength from the outfield as well.

Mack's take -

Molina doesn't throw hear. His game is all about spin rate.

I see him moving up the draft charts the more he is scouted.

I currently have him picked somewhere in the first five rounds.

Mack, love the added commentary at the end of these.

Drafting another Molina would be like the Mets having drafted another Wilmer, or Reyes!!!
