I am going to put this here because I hate scrolling for hours to find a buried, ancient post from 2 hours ago.

KC signs catcher Perez for 4/$83 (with an option year).

Sure makes McCann's contract look good. When we look at the near-future expenses for this team -- Lindor, Conforto, and either Syndergaard or Stroman -- going mid-level on the catching position seems smart.

My gut says that Syndergaard, coming off the injury, feels like an easier, more willing sign. Whereas I feel that Stroman is looking forward to the full free-agent experience.

Noah could go any number of ways. Does he sign a one-year deal to establish his full health? Or is he tempted by a 3-4 year deal that gives him lifetime security (just in case the arm, you know, blows up again). When do you try to talk about that deal? What's the best strategy? The more risk the Mets take (say, signing him today), the more of a AAV discount they should receive. If we wait for Noah to show full health -- and it's August -- what to compel him to come to the table at all?

Ultimately, will be good when Allen, Ginn, Somebody can step into the rotation and work for peanuts.
