Do their stats equal their salaries.
It seems amazing to me sometimes. I look at the new player signings, the amounts, and then I look at their stats and go, "What the heck. Am I missing something here?" But to be truthful, this is pro sports today and it is simply because that there is so much money out there to be made by the teams.
Carlos Carrasco - Look at his career stats. What am I missing here?
Michael Conforto - Look at what he will probably be asking for next contract. Sure, he hits a decent share of homeruns, but at a .259 career BA? Would not an outfield featuring Dominic Smith, Brandon Nimmo, and either McNeil, Almora, or Pillar be just as good? The Armstrong the year after should be in this mix too.
2021
To me, it's all about getting off to the very best start that the NY Mets can. The division is competitive and the Mets should dominate in the second half, after all the walking wounded have returned, especially the two starters.
The Mets are really, really deep off the bench now, and their bullpen is right there as well. There will be "step-up relievers" coming into game from the pen. Castro being one.
I actually think that the Mets will fare well even in the first half, with guys like Walker, Lucchesi, Stroman, and Peterson carry their part of the workload. And Jake is automatic, probably the very best pitcher in the NL.
I am ready for 2012 to begin now.
