Mack - Draft Thoughts: Dylan Lesko, Luis Ramirez, Jordan Sprinkle, Brandon Sproat, Bryce Hubbart

9-1-21 - MLB - Top high school prospects for '22 Draft

3. Dylan Lesko, RHP, Buford HS (Ga.)

College commitment: Vanderbilt

Lesko entered the summer as the perceived top prep arm in this class and he confirmed it at various stops. He’s 6-foot-3, athletic and has a very good feel for three pitches, with his mid-90s fastball and his plus changeup the standouts, though he definitely knows how to spin a breaking ball, too

Mack's spin -

A lot of ink has come in on thus guy. All positive.

My #1 RHP.

9-1-21 - PG: Cape Cod Wrap Up: Top Tools -

Best Changeup: Luis Ramirez, RHP, Long Beach State |

 Yarmouth-Dennis (2022)

Why: It seems only fitting that a West Coast arm would take home the title for best changeup on the circuit. Ramirez’s changeup flashed late parachuting movement and he showed the confidence to throw the pitch right-on-right, making it the rare split-neutral cambio. Opponents struggled against the pitch as well, hitting .111/.304/.167, while generating whiffs at respectable rate of 28%. His ability to drive chase swings, avoid barrels and generates ground balls when contact was made the difference in the end versus Jake Bennett’s changeup or Quinn Mathews.

Mack's spin -

Early ink but still, my current 37th RHP.

14. JORDAN SPRINKLE, SS

UC SANTA BARBARA (2022): ORLEANS FIREBIRDS

Hit Power Arm Field Run FV

30/55 20/40 65/65 65/70 70/65 5

Toolsy SS prospect. Super athletic. Plus arm, glove and runner. Demonstrates elite range all over the left side of the infield. Able to create plays on defense. Potential five tool player if he is able

to improve his approach and contact rate at the plate. Combination of tools profiles as ML SS.

2021 USC Santa Barbara stat line - 55-G, 235-AB, .353/.402/.536, 7-HR

Mack's spin -

Jordan's name keeps sprinkling up... get it?

Anyway...  my #8 SS.

8-30-21 - 2021 USA Baseball College National Team Top MLB Draft Prospects -

19. Brandon Sproat, RHP, Florida

Sproat had a 1.50 ERA in the small sample that was the shortened 2020 season, but he wasn’t able to back that performance up as a second-year pitcher at Florida. He had a 6.65 ERA in 21.2 innings with nearly as many walks (15) as strikeouts (18). He was much better, however, over the summer with the CNT, giving up five hits and two runs with eight strikeouts in nine innings, including three hitless innings against the Olympic team.

Stuff is not a concern with Sproat. His fastball touched 100 in the spring, and in his three-inning outing against the Olympians, the pitch sat in the mid-to-high 90s. His changeup was also a weapon in 2021, with a greater than 40% whiff rate. He needs to refine his command, but his premium stuff is enough to offer plenty of promise for the future.

2021 Gators stat line - 16-G, 2-starts, 2-1, 6.65, 21.2-IP, 18-K, 15-BB

Mack's spin -

Sure, he hits 100, but I just can't get excited about a 6.65-ERA.

I placed him as my 37th RHP and we'll see what he does this next season.

PITCHERS   -   EAST

Bryce Hubbart (Florida State)

Hubbart's performance on the Cape this year has generated a lot of big buzz. The Florida State lefty was the ace of the Brewster staff this summer, featuring a strong package of stuff. It starts with a low-90s four seam fastball, a big curveball in the low to mid-70s with usable shape manipulation, as well as a sweeping slider. Over 31 innings this summer, Hubbart posted a 0.87 ERA with a miniscule 0.710 WHIP. He punched out 45 batters in the process. There is some effort with his arm and lower half in the delivery, but Hubbart repeats well and lands his pitches where he wants to. It’s an extremely uncomfortable at-bat with a ton of deception. This could be the first college pitcher off the board in 2022.

2021 FSU stat line - 16-G, 14-ST, 6-5, 3.80, 71-IP, 94-K

Mack's spin -

Currently - 8th LHP
