Thanks to Alderson's shrewd trading skills, the Mets now have the likes of cornerstone franchise Catcher that hasn't been seen since Mike Piazza left. d'Arnaud hits for average, he hits for power, plays solid defense, has a good arm, and is a sponge willing to soak in knowledge. In other words he is the complete catcher package and he is ready to play in the MLB now. There is concern that the PCL injury that sidelined him in 2012 and the back injury in 2010 could limit his future at catcher but so far d'Arnaud has shown no ill effects from the two past injuries. As much as Mets fans would love to see him in Queens starting April 3rd, the organization will keep him in Vegas until service time allows them to keep him under team control for 6 years rather than 5.
Anticipated Assignment: (AAA) Las Vegas starting C with a call-up to the MLB level in June.
