Sandy Alderson somehow was able to nab the Jays top two prospects and a wild card possible 5 tool player prospect for RA Dickey this off-season and one of them was Syndergaard. Widely regarded as the Toronto Blue Jays top pitching prospect, the Jays kept his progression very slow. Noah only pitched in 18 games over a year and half before finally receiving his first full season assignment in Lansing which used a piggyback system. Syndergaard possesses a mid 90's sinker that led to him giving up only 5 HRs in his entire minor league career so far. That, combined with a high 90's fastball that regularly touches 99 and a curveball that already is of major league quality, has given Syndergaard the ability to regular put up K rates of over 10+ per 9 innings. Add in a tall pitcher's build and you got yourself the makings of a bulldog workhorse who could slot in as your #2 starter and given you 230+ innings a season. The Mets will probably speed up his progression only a small amount but not until they get to see what they have in person.
Anticipated Assignment: (A+) Port St. Lucie with a promotion to (AA) Binghamton in June.

I love this kid as I 'm sure the mets do too! If he starts in AA and
starts off well he might get promoted by mid or late this year to AAA and if he does really well
maybe a september call up and a shot at the rotation in 2014?
I know I 'm dreaming they will start him off in 2014 in AAA and
sometime during the season he will
be up! Wheeler,Harvy,Noah,Montero, and Niese or Gee? Good be best staff in baseball!!
Craig.....make no mistakes about it that Niese is going to be with the team for the long haul.
Take a quick glance at the Mack Mets Top 25 and you'll see that we have Zero quality left handers Starting pitchers in the farm system at the moment.
As for Syndergaard while i agree that he possibly SHOULD start in AA, Toronto was progressing him very slowly and he finished 2012 in Regular A ball (Not advanced like Port St. Lucie).
The brass will want to see what they have in Syndergaard in games first before sending him to Binghamton. Plus I'm inclined to say they would not want to expose him to possible injury risk pitching in colder Binghamton weather ergo my June anticipated call-up.
