A full listing of our Top 25 Prospects is on the right hand side of our website.Without further ado....The Mack's Mets #5 organizational prospect is......
#5 RHP Michael Fulmer
Bats: R Throws: R
Height: 6' 3" Weight: 200 lb
Acquired: 2011 Draft, 1st round supplemental, Deer Creek High School (OK)
2012: (A) 7-6, 2.74 ERA, 8.4 K/9, 3.2 BB/9, 1.200 WHIP
2011: (R) 0-1, 10.12 ERA, 16.9 K/9, 6.8 BB/9, 2.438 WHIP
Step 1: Throw out 2011's stats. Its a small sample size of only 3 starts and 1 relief appearance. Step 2: recognize that Fulmer pitched 2012 in Savannah at age 19, an age where most high school prospects are finishing Rookie Level or Short Season A at best. Last Step: Look at the stats. Fulmer finished with the 4th best ERA and the 3rd lowest batting average against while being among the youngest players in the SAL. Guys this kid is special. He has a fastball that sits in the 93-96 mph and maxes out at 98 mph as well as a mid 80's slider that possesses a really nice sharp break. He'll need to refine a third pitch before climbing to the highest parts of the system but he'll only be 20 years old playing in Port St. Lucie so he has plenty of time to grow left. Port St. Lucie is going to be the place to be this Spring.
Anticipated Assignment: (A+) Port St. Lucie starting rotation.
