Acquired from the Blue Jays via theR.A. Dickeytrade, Syndergaard is highly regarded for his towering presence on the mound (6’-5” tall) and his 122 strikeouts in 103.2 innings pitched last season. Syndergaard has swing-and-miss stuff, but a lack of secondary pitches could limit his ceiling. Brought in to round out what could be a ghastly trio of talented starters, Syndergaard is still several steps behind fellow Mets standoutsMatt HarveyandZack Wheeler. Regardless, he will not even crack the big-league level until late 2014 at the earliest. Therefore, time is still on Syndergaard’s side to develop the stuff necessary to counter his fastball.
