LAST GAME: The B-Mets broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the eighth inning, as they topped the Akron Aeros 7-3 Tuesday night. After Akron took a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning, the B-Met offense came to life against Paolo Espino. Wilfredo Tovar hit an RBI single into left field for the first run, andDanny Muno tied the game with a two-run double over the centerfielder’s head. The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth. Binghamton scored four runs on just three hits, and used the aid of four Akron walks and two wild pitches to boost the lead. Jack Leathersich earned the win in relief; the lefty threw two scoreless innings and got his first Double-A victory.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Jacob deGrom makes his sixth start of the season for the B-Mets, and his ninth overall start in 2013. After two starts in High-A St. Lucie, deGrom was promoted in mid-April. Since, he has lost his first four decisions. His only no-decision came against Akron on 4/28. In that game, he threw 5.1 innings and gave up five runs on seven hits. In his last start, he gave up a season-high six runs on nine hits in a loss to Harrisburg. Binghamton is 0-5 in deGrom’s starts, but averages only 1.8 runs of support in those games.

AKRON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Jordan Cooper pitches in his fourth game of the season for the Aeros, and his eighth game overall. Cooper was promoted from High-A Carolina after four starts; he went 1-2 with a 2.19 ERA with the Mudcats. In Double-A, the righty earned his only win in his debut when he threw three shutout innings of relief against Altoona on 5/1. In two starts, he has given up three runs in 11 innings in two no-decisions. Opponents are hitting .220 against Cooper in Double-A. He was drafted by the Indians in the ninth round of the 2010 draft out of Wichita State University.

COMEBACK KIDS: For the second consecutive night, the B-Mets came from behind to beat the Akron Aeros. Monday night, they trailed 2-0 before scoring the final five runs of the game. Tuesday night Akron led 3-0 before Binghamton plated the final seven runs. This season the B-Mets are 9-11 when the other team scores first.

WINNING HOMESTAND: Tuesday’s 7-3 win over Akron gave the B-Mets their fourth win of the homestand. After splitting a four-game series with the Harrisburg Senators, Binghamton has won the first two games of the Akron series. They are 10-10 at NYSEG Stadium.

BRING OUT THE BROOMS: A win on Wednesday will give Binghamton their first series sweep of the season. Their only other chance to sweep came against Akron in the first series of the season. They lost that game 13-3.

MUNO MASHING: In the last two games, Danny Muno has gone 4-for-7 with two RBI and three runs scored. On Tuesday, he tied the game with a two-run double in the fifth inning. Currently, he is tied with Cory Vaughn for the team lead in RBI (21).

BATS ARE BETTER: Since being no-hit against Harrisburg on Thursday, the B-Mets are averaging 9.0 hits per game in their last five games. They are 4-1 in those games, and have scored 30 total runs.  

FORSYTHE FOR EXTRA BASES: Catcher Blake Forsythe hit his team-leading ninth double on Tuesday. In 2013, Forsythe has 21 base hits, 12 for extra bases. He has nine singles, one triple, and two home runs.

SEARCHING FOR FOUR: A win on Wednesday would give Binghamton their first four-game winning streak since 7/13/12 - 7/15/12 v ERI. That was also their last series sweep.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: Binghamton has their second off day of the season on Thursday. Beginning on Friday, the B-Mets start a three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs. Game One is at 6:00 PM as RHP Erik Goeddel will throw against RHP Matt Barnes.
