Roc Riggio is a 2021 OF/C/MIF with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Simi Valley, CA who attends Thousand Oaks. Compact athletic build with good present strength. 7.33 runner, plays faster than his sixty time. Good fundamentals in the outfield, clean approach through the ball with good glove position out front, gets on top of his throws well from an over the top arm slot. Also worked out in the middle infield with quick and active footwork and a similar over the top arm slot. Left handed hitter, hits from an open stance with a short, high contact swing approach, controlled swing the worked the middle to opposite field consistently, has shown more power in his swing approach in the past..
PG -
Roc Riggio, IF/OF, Milwaukee Brewers Scout Team
Riggio has established himself as one of the better pure hit tools in the prep class and he performed well in Jupiter, finding barrel after barrel and showing continued progression of his power and approach. He’s likely a corner outfielder at the next level but has the hitting tools to be a middle order piece, and he could be an immediate huge presence at Oklahoma State.
Roc Riggio, 2B - Roc Riggio isn’t the biggest kid or the one with the most tools, but once a game starts he is just making plays. Riggio played a very strong defensive second base(highlight below), has the ability to make things happen with his legs on the bases, and showed off his feel for getting a barrel on the ball. This kid is just a ballplayer, and he’s going to make one organization very happy when they draft him. It’s also worth noting that he gets very high marks for character.
16. Roc Riggio, 2B/OF, Thousand Oaks High School (California)
There are a couple of guys I just root for and Roc Riggio is one of them. Partly because of his standout skill and partly because of his standout name, Riggio has been high on scouts’ list pretty much since he started playing high school ball. There are shades of Dustin Pedroia here. I’m not just saying that because he is small (5’8, 155 pounds) and plays second base. Riggio’s bat speaks loudly — he already has plus power and appears to be a student of the launch angle revolution. Take a look at his swing:
Obviously we don’t have any metrics to support this but his swing just looks like it generates tremendous backspin. He can also play all around the field and has some speed. His plus arm could make him an outfielder.
