Mack - Draft Thoughts: Nazier Mule, Luke Heyman, Joe Lampe, Sam Boyle, Andrew Dutkanych IV

8-23-21 - prospects live -

NAZIER MULE, RIGHT-HANDED PITCHER

Mule considers himself a two-way prospect with a bright future at shortstop, but after Sunday night he may have stapled his name into future professional lineup cards as an arm. The New Jersey product posted one of the more impressive outings of the night, touching 100 mph twice and 99 mph seven more times. Mule threw nine fastballs and only two of them registered on the radar gun under 99. Mule mixed in a couple sliders, one for a strike. He did walk a batter, but the fastball command was plenty usable.

Mack's spin -

Definitely a 2-way player.

I need to reclassify Mule (MOO-lay) from the 3rd SS to the 6th RHP

Hell, I will leave him on both boards.

8-22-21 - Joe Doyle @JoeDoyleMiLB

Luke Heyman with a 103mph nuke off a 94mph Andrew Dutkaynch fastball to give East the 2-1 lead. Heyman is a Florida commit. Big power behind the plate, big arm to go with it.

Mack's spin -

Big power and a huge arm.

Prep stats - 110 games, .361-2-78, 1.004 OPS

I have Heyman as my 12th catcher.

8-22-21 -

Mack -  We never see much ink being written about second basemen. Jace Jung is obviously number one here, but could you give us five other second basemen to keep an eye on?

Joe - Surely. Robert Moore at Arkansas, Joe Lampe at Arizona State, Brooks Carlson at Samford, Jacob Blas at Arizona and Jared Poland at Louisville

Mack's spin -

Part of my interview with Joe Doyle.

This is the only ink I have on Lampe but I will take Joe's word that we need to add him to our board.

Slotted him as my 3rd 2Bman.

2021 ASU stat line - 55-G, 180-AB, .294/.383/.461, 3-HR

8-16-21 - Prospects Live - Pacific Northwest Prospects -

SAM BOYLE

Left-Handed Pitcher

Columbia River High School (Vancouver, Washington)

Boyle is super data-savvy with a big-time riding fastball. He mixes in two distinct breaking balls and feel for a changeup at times. The velocity isn't quite there yet, touching 91, but many evaluators believe it is coming.

 Mack's spin -

First ink on Boyle.

Not on my board yet.

8-5-21 - Prospects Live

 Andrew Dutkanych IV

Making the trip from Indiana, Dutkanych walked into Tropicana Field and produced one of the best pitching performances of the week. Vanderbilt commit flashed an advanced four pitch mix led by a plus fastball that sat 92-95 with a ton of run. Slider and changeup both flashed above average in the low to mid 80s and a tight hammer curveball in the 70s. Dutkanych was able to pull a Caden Dana and struck out 6 in his two inning outing. He was able to pick up at least one K with each of his pitches. Dutkanych gives you Andrew Painter vibes being a big bodied RHP with elite body control and a deep pitch mix. Really good chance he could be a name in first round talks next summer.

Mack's spin -

I can't believe there were actually three other people named Andrew Dutkanych.

He is a big time draft prospect and I currently have him as my 8th RHP.

I like him a lot but like most Vandy commits may be a tough sign
