To those saying the Mets should or should not bring Baez back, Baez has to also want to come back. That's just as much a factor if not more of a factor.
— Metstradamus (@Metstradamus) September 13, 2021
Baez, just like every other accomplished free agent, only gets to do this once if they're lucky.

The 27 year-old All-Star 41st round-tripper of the season, which was also establishes the single-season record for the Mets, helps the team come back from a five-run deficit and eventually beat the Braves, 6-5. |
2008 | Mets shortstop Jose Reyes, with his eighth-inning thievery in a 7-4 loss to the Braves at Shea Stadium, becomes the first player to have four straight seasons of 50 or more stolen bases playing for a New York area team, which also includes Yankees, Dodgers, and Giants. The accomplishment extends the infielder's own record, as he is also the only Gotham major leaguer to achieve the feat for three consecutive years. |

Mets lack hitting one too many times = stick a fork in them.
As hard as it is to accept, this past weekend was a dead cat bounce, it appears. The Braves have a California trip left but the Mets don’t have any life, energy, or motivation to try a little. Where do the changes start? I just don’t even know but there need to be some starting at the top.
The entire approach to the offense needs to change - Sandy's patience and power is a dud in a big pack like Citi Field. Either play small ball, put the ball in play with men on base or bring the fences in like Tom advocates. Insisting on a still of play that doesn't fit your home ball park is the definition of insanity.
