LAST GAME: Binghamton improved to 4-0 on the year in extrainnings contest with a 4-3 victory over New Britain in 10 innings Friday night at New Britain Stadium. Reese Havens dealt the decisive blow with a solo homer off reliever Santos Arias in the 10th frame. It was the second homer of the game  for Havens, who started the game’s scoring with a two-run homer off starter Tyler Robertson in the third. Robertson was
unblemished after the shot, and output a quality start of six innings with five strikeouts in a no-decision. Josh Stinson was solid as well in his second start of the year. He offered up 5.1 innings of two-run work. Clint Everts recorded the win for the B-Mets with two, hitless innings of relief. He loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth, but struck out Rene Tosoni to end the threat. In the 10th, he retired the side in order with a pair
of strikeouts to seal his third win. Arias was charged with his seventh loss of the year.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Eric Niesen will make his seventh start of the season tonight. He tied a season-worst with five walks in his last start May 31 versus Akron. The lefty tossed 3.2 innings and allowed five runs, two earned, in a nodecision. On the year, Niesen is 0-2 with a 3.43 ERA over 21 innings. He spent a month on the disabled list with a concussion  April 26-May 26. The southpaw led all Mets minor leaguers with 134 strikeouts in 2009. He was the Mets’ third-round choice in 2007 out of Wake Forest and is considered the No. 24 prospect in the Mets farm system by Baseball America.

RHP Kyle Gibson, who has emerged as the ace of New Britain’s staff, will make his first turn in the rotation tonight. He garnered a no-decision in his last start May 31 at Portland after tossing five innings of two-run work. With the Rock Cats, Gibson is 3-0 with a 1.37 ERA over 26.1 innings. Opponents hit just .208 against the righty, who opened the season in Fort Myers (High-A). With the Miracle, he was 4-1 with a 1.87 ERA in seven starts (43.1 IP) prior to his promotion to Double-A in the middle of May. He was the 22nd overall selection in last year’s draft out of the University of Missouri and is considered the No. 3 prospect in Minnesota’s system by Baseball America.
