LAST GAME: Chris Schwinden combined with three relievers to shutout Trenton 1-0 in the first game of a three-game set at NYSEG Stadium Friday night. Schwinden offered up 6.1 innings  of work, scattering seven hits with five strikeouts for his second win with Binghamton. Brahiam Maldonado, fresh up from St. Lucie (High-A), starred in his return, going a perfect 3-3 with a game-winning solo homer off Thunder starter Hector Noesi in the sixth inning. Noesi was the hard-luck loser after allowing a run on seven hits over seven, strong innings. Derrick Ellison and Emary Frederick combined to take the game through eight. Manuel Alvarez, who tossed two innings Thursday for a save at Richmond, worked a 1-2-3 ninth with a pair of strikeouts to notch his second straight save. Nick Evans recorded a two-hit day with a double to extend his hitting

streak to five games.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Scott Shaw will start in  place of the recently demoted Brad Holt tonight in a spot-start. Shaw last started June 8 in Game 1 of a doubleheader with Bowie and took the loss after permitted four runs over five innings. As a starter, he is 4-4 with an 8.56 ERA over 10 starts spanning 47.1 innings. Overall, he is 4-5 with a 6.94 ERA in 58.1 innings. Shaw led St. Lucie (High-A) last season in numerous categories, including starts (26), innings (149.2), wins (8) and strikeouts (118). The righty was drafted by the Mets in the 13th round of the June 2008 draft out of the University of Illinois.

RHP Cory Arbiso will make his third spot start of the season tonight for Trenton. He last made a start May 29 at New Hampshire in Game 2 of a twin bill and allowed six runs over two innings to take a loss. Arbiso is 0-1 with a 3.46 ERA over 26 innings with the Thunder. As a reliever, he carries a 2.57 ERA over 21 innings compared with a 7.20 ERA in 5 innings as a starter. He spent the bulk of 2009 with Charleston (Low-A), appearing in 30 games, 10 of which were starts, and tallied a 4-7 mark with a 4.85 ERA over 91 innings. Arbiso was taken in the 22nd round of the June 2008 draft out of Cal State Fullerton by New York (AL)
