2009 (Sophomore):

Brown led the Tigers in several categories during his sophomore season including home runs (7), at-bats (222), RBI (58) and the team's longest hitting streak. Brown recorded at least one hit in 49 of Pacific's 53 games last season, including a 20-game hitting streak from March 8 through April 10. Brown notched 35 hits over that 20-game span. J.B. also finished the season locked in a a tie with fellow sophomore Nick Longmire for the Tigers' most hits at 84. He completed the 2009 season on an active 12-game hitting streak that will continue into 2010, after going 1-for-4 at UC Riverside on May 3. J.B.'s strongest outing of the year came in the Tigers' 16-11 victory at California on April 28, when he muscled his way to a 4-for-6 plate appearance, including four runs scored and three RBI after connecting for a double and three singles in the game. Brown's spectacular power numbers helped him claim one of five Tiger spots on the all-conference list, as Brown was named Second Team All-Big West for the first time of his two-year career at Pacific. J.B. was also named Big West Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 23, when Brown went 6-for-12 at the plate to start out the year against No. 8 Baylor and was also perfect in the field, with five putouts, 10 assists and no errors.

2008 (Freshman):

Brown saw a great deal of playing time during his freshman campaign with the Tigers, starting in 36 of his 45 games played. From March 7 to 22, J.B. recorded a seven-game hitting streak with a total of eight hits over that span, which was the third-longest streak of the season for the Tigers. Brown finished the year third overall with two triples and he launched his first home run for the Tigers on April 11 at Cal Poly to help Pacific to a 3-1 win over the Mustangs. In that game Brown went 2-for-3 with two RBI. One of Brown's best appearances at the plate came on March 4 in the 7-5 loss to BYU, when he went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two doubles. Defensively, the third baseman registered 67 putouts and 73 assists.

High School:

J.B. graduated from Kempner High School in Sugarland, Texas, but played at three different high schools; Alvin HS, Brazosport HS and Kempner HS. Despite playing for three different teams, J.B. was the measure of consistency. A varsity letter winner in each season, Brown hit .300 or better and posted at least 12 doubles in every season. Brown also was a four-time all-county and all-district player as well as a pre-season all-state selection in 2007. As a senior, J.B. hit .390, with 20 doubles, six triples and five home runs. As a junior, Brown hit .478 with 13 doubles, two triples, and one home run with 24 RBI, earning him a selection to the All-Greater Houston First Team. In addition, he garnered First Team All-District and All-County honors while being named the All-County Most Valuable Player. As an all-around athlete, Brown also earned the Charley Ackley Memorial Award as the best two-sport athlete as he excelled in both football and baseball. During the summer of 2006, Brown was a member of the Texas Ranger Area Code Team.
