Minor Mets 101: - Satin, Ratliff, Tovar, Niese

6-15-10:

- well, it looked like I was right yesterday… both 2B Josh Satin and OF Sean Ratliff were promoted from St. Lucie to Binghamton. Both moves were obviously made to offset injures (so far non-DL) to both Kirk Nieuwenhius and Reese Havens. Satin played second last night, Ratliff was in center, flanked by recent arrival from the extended camp, D J Wabick, and Marshall Hubbard, who arrived from Buffalo. Nick Evans stayed on first and Eric Campbell played third. Basically, this is almost a new team from a month ago.

-what all this did to St. Lucie was create, in my opinion, a confusing middle field. SS Wifredo Tovar, who was called up a day ago, played 2B… and 2B Jordany Valdespin played SS… outfield wise, the lineup was Emmanuel Garcia, Raul Reyes, and Joey August… which makes me keep looking at the dates that the first half of the Savannah season is completed.

-I’ve been reading a lot of speculation about a possible trade for SP Cliff Lee that would include SP Jonathan Niese. I don’t like to speculate on things until they happen, but it would greatly surprise me to see the Mets give up on a legitimate young prospect for a pitcher that would legally be able to sign with another team for next year. Everything is working real nice right now for Mets prospects and the addition of Niese, Jenrry Mejia, Ike Davis, Ruben Tejada, and even Chris Carter, have changed the makeup and attitude of this team. I can’t see the Mets screwing with this karma right now. Now, that being said, get a commitment from Lee’s agent that he’ll sign a 4-year deal at the end of this season, and get them to accept a package of Nick Evans, Jordany Valdespin, Josh Thole, and Eric Niesen… and you got a deal (nothing personal, guys).
