MOCK: - Gillette

1. Washington Nationals

Bryce Harper, C, College of Southern Nevada

He's been No. 1 wire-to-wire. Got thrown out of a game, but he is still a teenager. Nonetheless, the skills are there. With his level of athleticism, arm and bat, he may never even catch.

2. Pittsburgh Pirates

Manny Machado, SS, Brito Private H.S. (Florida)

Call it a hunch or a gut feeling, after chatting with a Pittsburgh official, but odds are Machado will be a Buc.

3. Baltimore Orioles

Jameson Taillon, RHP, The Woodlands H.S. (Texas)

His makeup and bankability are off the charts. This is a no-brainer. If the Bucs for some reason don't take Machado, he'll be in Baltimore.

4. Kansas City Royals

Chris Sale, LHP, Florida Gulf Coast

I wrote early last week that it was a very distinct possibility that Sale would move past Pomeranz as the first college lefty taken off the board -- and he has. Struck out 135 this spring.

5. Cleveland Indians

Kolbrin Vitek, 2B/CF, Ball State

Vitek has the blend of developed skills, some projectability and consistent performance to push himself up to No. 5. One scout texted me saying San Diego and Boston have been all over Vitek, but Vitek won't slide far enough for Boston to get him.

6. Arizona Diamondbacks

Drew Pomeranz, LHP, Ole Miss

Dogged by some inconsistency at the end of the season and a penchant for walks, he still is a superior talent among an above-average group. Made strides on his change-up this spring.

7. New York Mets

Matt Harvey, RHP, North Carolina

Harvey has risen faster than a bread in the oven. Power arm, signability, late-season surge -- the chatter is the Mets are high on Harvey. Still too many walks.
