Mets to Interview First Series of Candidates for GM Job

Most Mets' fans are hoping that ownership will hire a 2-person team to run the franchise, a la Sandy Alderson AND Rick Hahn (Alderson as Prez or Exec VP, Hahn as GM), for example. However, it's more likely that they will hire only one person, to fill the role as GM, and that person will be tasked with developing John Ricco (remember- it's pronounced RICK-O, LOL) into a future GM role. Therefore, it's more likely that they will hire someone like Sandy Alderson, Allard Baird or Terry Ryan, GMs who have substantial experience and have developed many disciples. Personally, I'd LOVE to see a young, hungry candidate like Hahn or the Blue Jays' Tony LaCava, in combination WITH an Alderson/Ryan/Baird, but we know now that the odds of such a high-caliber, high-priced combo is most likely not in the cards. That being said, next week, it's been reported that the Mets will conduct their first interviews, with candidates identified as Baird, Hahn and Josh Byrnes. I'm okay with either Baird OR Hahn, but not a huge fan of Josh "I'm being paid by DBacks NOT to work for next 5 years" Byrnes!! This will be the most important GM hire since Frank Cashen, and I know we're all praying that the Wilpons don't blow this call!!
