Mets Name INF Josh Satin Organizational Player of the Year
Chris Schwinden Named Top Player on Bisons
September 15, 2011 –The New York Mets have named former Buffalo Bisons INF JOSH SATIN their 2011 Sterling Organizational Player of the Year. New York also gives a Sterling Award to the top player for each of their nine minor league affiliates.
The Mets gave the Buffalo Sterling Award to RHP CHRIS SCHWINDEN. Satin split the season between the Bisons and Double-A Binghamton of the Eastern League and hit a combined .323 (156-483) in 132 games. He added 12 home runs and 76RBI and earned a spot on the Eastern League All-Star team.
Satin, who is currently with the Mets, finished the minor-league season as the third-leading hitter among all New York farmhands. With the Bisons, Satin hit .317 (46-145) with a home run and 16RBI in 38 games.
Schwinden was the Bisons Most Valuable Pitcher in 2011 and also the club’s lone representative in the Triple-A All-Star Game. The righty, who is also currently with the Mets for his first major league experience, was 8-8 with a 3.95ERA in 26 starts for Buffalo after beginning the season at Binghamton. He struck out 134 batters, the 3rd-most in a single season by a Bisons pitcher in the modern era.
