The Keepers: - #57 - 3B Elvis Sanchez

57.     3B      Elvis Sanchez

10-28-10: - The Mets signed international free agent, 16-year old, Elvis Sanchez. He comes with scouting reports of huge power and a game similar to Aderlin Rodriquez.
3-11-11: - Up:  - 3B – Elvis Sanchez -  the first surprise was finding him in camp with the minor leaguers that are scheduled to go to one of the top four minor league teams next month. You would have expected a kid this young to not report until April 15th when the extended camp kids come to Florida. In addition, word from the camp was everyone was impressed with his bat speed and his ability to spray the outfield with line drives out of the cage
5-29-11: - The Elvis Sanchez era began last night on opening night for the DSL Mets2 team. Sanchez homered in the 7th inning, leading his team to a 6-5 win over the Royals.
8-15-11: - Sanchez continues to slump in his first professional year. He went 0-3 again last night and is now batting .154 for the DSL2 team. He also played first base.

8-23-11: - DSL 2011 End of Season Wrap-Up - http://www.nyfuturestars.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35808&sid=e8719b8eddffd9bc033d0ab708d8aff5  - Elvis Sanchez, 17, 3B  - Disappointing year for Sanchez in his debut, hitting just .157 with 3 bombs. In 198 ABs, he walked 62 times, and struck out 73. Almost 37% of ABs, he strikes out.

52: - 3B Elvis Sanchez - No, I’m not going to say that Elvis is in the house. Oh, shit. Sanchez was signed last year as a 16-year old and was hyped with having similar power as Aderlin Rodriguez. You can’t ask for more when he went yard on opening night for the DSL2 team. He wound up having one of the strangest seasons and might go down in  history as the most patient teenager in baseball:  198-AB… 73-K… .157-BA… but, 62-BB! That translates to an OBP of .367 with a slugging percentage of .222. The Mets plan on working on removing his bat from his shoulder, and if they are smart, they’d leave im in the DR for another season. ETA: ???
