Needs: fourth outfielder, starting pitcher
Thoughts:
-Boston is very deep in organizational talent, especially at lower levels.

-
Five prospects graduate this year.

-SS Iglesias is no longer ARB-eligible and his 4-yr. contract runs out at the end of the 2012 season.
Summary Suggestion: Boston is as stacked as a team can be. They’re not shy to spend money, they have a bunch of all-stars and they draft for talent. Boston already has two left-handed starters, so Jon Niese is probably not a good fit here, but what a great place this would be for a new start by Mike Pelfrey. It sure would be great to pry away one of the lower-level outfield prospects, but Boston has no plans to trade Brentz.

Pundits say a Beckett for Pelfrey bad contract would be good for both teams.

I’ll take OF Brandon Jacobs.

I've wondered about bad contract swapping with Bay who might have a bid of good will left for him in Massachusetts.

Beckett for Pelfrey? or Lackey?
