LAST GAME: The B-Mets were no-hit by the combination of Paul Demny and Ian Krol as Harrisburg won 6-1Friday night. Demny cruised through eight hitless innings, walking only three batters in the process. Krol relieved him and threw a perfect ninth to finish the game. The Harrisburg offense provided plenty of support against Jacob deGrom. They plated two runs in the first, and another run in the second inning to take an early 3-0 lead. It became a 6-0 game in the sixth when the Senators scored three more runs off of deGrom. Binghamton’s lone run came in the seventh. After a leadoff walk to Allan Dykstra, he moved to third on a throwing error, and scored on a double-play ball. Chase Huchingson threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out a season-high four batters. John Churchthen pitched a perfect ninth.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Erik Goeddel makes his seventh start of the season for the B-Mets, and the second consecutive outing against Harrisburg. He earned the win against the Senators on 5/4; he threw six innings, gave up two runs on three hits, and struck out five. In 2013, he has allowed three or less earned runs in five of his six starts. Opponents are hitting .298 against the right-hander. Goeddel was selected by the Mets in the 24th round of the 2010 draft out of UCLA.

HARRISBURG STARTING PITCHER: RHP Caleb Clay gets the ball for the seventh time this season for the Harrisburg Senators. He was tagged with his only loss of the season in his last outing, a 6-1 loss to the B-Mets on 5/5. In the game, Clay threw seven innings, gave up four runs on six hits, and struck out two. He also allowed a season-high two home runs. To begin 2013 he won his first three decisions, and is holding opposing hitters to a .224 batting average. Clay was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 2006 draft out of Cullman HS (AL).

NO-HITTER: The B-Mets were held without a hit for the first time since 8/13/01 against the Portland Sea Dogs. Yesterday was the second no-hitter thrown in the Eastern League in 2013. On 4/5, Richmond’s Jack Snodgrass andDaryl Maday combined to throw a seven-inning no-no against New Hampshire. The game was the fourth game of 2013 where the B-Mets have been hitless through the first five innings.

PUELLO’S STREAK ENDS: Cesar Puello finished 0-for-3 Thursday night, ending his season-high 15-game hitting streak. He hit .327 during the stretch, and had the longest active streak in the Minor Leagues. It was just the fourth game in 2013 where Puello had been held without a  base hit.

MAY STRUGGLES: After tying a franchise record with 14 wins in April, the B-Mets are 3-6 in the first nine days of May. In those games, the team has been held to three runs or less six times, and three or less hits four times.

NO SUPPORT FOR deGROM: RHP Jacob deGrom fell to 0-4 in five Double-A starts in 2013. In those five games, the B-Met offense has provided just nine runs behind the right hander.

HURTING FOR RUNS:  Over the last four games, Binghamton has combined for just five runs. Cesar Puello has been credited with each RBI during that stretch. The last RBI from anyone besides Peullo was a home run by Alonzo Harris  in the eighth inning, 5/5 @ HAR.

POSITIVE ‘PEN: Over the last seven games, Binghamton’s bullpen has posted a 1.45 ERA in 18.2 innings of relief.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their four-game series against the Harrisburg Senators Saturdayafternoon at 1:05 PM. RHP Cory Mazzoni will start for Binghamton against RHP Taylor Jordan for Harrisburg.
