LAST GAME: Erie starter Kyle Lobstein took a no-hitter into the seventh and led the SeaWolves past the Binghamton Mets by a 9-1 score last night at NYSEG Stadium.Cesar Puello’s RBI single with two outs in the seventh broke up the no-no and brought home Binghamton’s only run. B-Met starter Logan Verrett was tagged for six runs on eight hits over six innings in his first Double-A loss. Tyler Collins blasted two homers and drove in five to lead Erie’s ten-hit attack and secure a series split.

BINGHAMTON STARTING PITCHER: RHP Jacob deGrom gets the ball for Binghamton for his fourth start of the season at Double-A. The righty took a no-decision in his last start against the Akron Aeros. The Floridian allowed five runs on seven hits, including two homers over 5.1 innings in a game the B-Mets lost 7-5. deGrom began the season with the St. Lucie Mets (High-A) and made two starts before getting promoted to Binghamton on April 16. He was selected by the New York Mets in the 9th round of the 2010 draft out of Stetson University.

HARRISBURG STARTING PITCHER: RHP Blake Treinen makes his sixth start of the season and first career against the B-Mets. He comes off a victory over the Bowie Baysox in his last start on April 28. He surrendered three hits and struck out six over 6.2 shutout innings for his second win of the year. Since allowing 13 runs in his first two starts (7.2 innings), Treinen has given up just two earned runs in his last three games (20.2 innings). He pitched for two seasons in the Oakland A’s system after being selected in the 7th round of the 2011 draft. He was acquired by the Nationals in a three-team deal in January 2013 that sent Michael Morse to the Seattle Mariners.

PUELLO SNAPS THE NO-NO: B-Met right fielder Cesar Puello ended Kyle Lobstein’s no-hit bid by dumping an RBI single into right field with two outs in the seventh last night. The hit extended his hitting streak to a season-best nine games. The streak dates back to April 14 and includes an eight-game stretch he missed due to a sore left wrist.

BATTING AVERAGE TAKES A HIT: The B-Mets here held to a season-low two hits last night and watched their team batting average drop to .246, putting them ninth in the Eastern League. It was the 11th time in their first 27 games that they were held to two runs or fewer.

BACK-TO-BACK LOSSES: The Binghamton Mets have lost two games in a row for the third time this season. The B-Mets have not dropped three in a row in 2013. Binghamton’s longest losing streak last year was a seven-game skid stretching from late June to early July.

FIGHTING TO AVOID .500: Binghamton’s record has not been at .500 or below at any point in 2013. The B-Mets are 8-0 this season when entering a game with a record one game over .500.

FINALLY A NEW OPPONENT: After playing the same four teams (Akron, Erie, New Hampshire, Portland) for the first 27 games of the season, the B-Mets start a three-game series against the Harrisburg Senators.

AGAINST THE SENS IN 2012: The B-Mets went 6-6 against the Senators last season, including a 3-3 mark at Metro Bank Park. They have won three of their last four games in Harrisburg, outscoring the Sens 20-8 during that stretch.

CAPITAL TRIP: The B-Mets six-game roadtrip will bring them to a pair of state capitals: Harrisburg, PA and Trenton, NJ. Among the twelve Eastern League members, three are located in state capitals. Richmond, VA completes the trio.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their three-game set against the Senators tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. RHP Erik Goeddel gets the nod for the visitors against RHP Paul Demny. The game will air on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
