Mets Minor League Report – May 17

Augusta (24-16) bombs Savannah (22-17) 11-0.
Nothing but lowlights for the Sand Gnats in this lopsided game. The Gnats were held to 1 hit by 3 Green Jackets pitchers, while all 3 Sand Gnats pitchers contributed to the slaughter.
Sand Gnat’s starter Robert Gsellman (L, 1-1) allowed 7 runs, only 2 of them earned, on 9 hits (HR) and a walk with 1 strikeout in 4.2 innings.
Reliever Julian Hilario gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk in 2.0 innings, followed by Paul Sewald, who allowed a run on 2 hits in his 1.1 innings.
Leadoff hitter Yucary De La Cruz delivered the sole hit for the anemic Sand Gnats’ offense.

Bradenton (16-25) edges St Lucie (23-16) in walkoff fashion,5-4.
St. Lucie closer (or at least one of them) T.J. Chism (L, 0-2) just didn’t have it tonight, allowing the winning run to score on 3 hits in the bottom of the 9th. This was the 2nd consecutive night that Chism was the victim of a walkoff hit.
The biggest news of the night was that Jenrry Mejia made his season debut, pitching 3 innings.  Mejia gave up 2 ER on 5 H and 3 BB. Not a very auspicious start to Jenrry’s season, but at least it is a start. Mejia did get 6 strikeouts in his 3 innings.
Aderlin Rodriguez (1-4) had a home run, his 7th.
Dustin Lawley: (2-4) had a home run (his 9th) and a triple, 2RBI and 2 R.

Binghamton (23-18) tops Portland (23-16) 6-3.
Mets starter Eric Goeddell (no decision) allowed 3 ER on 6 H, 1 BB and 6 K in 6.0 innings.
Reliever John Church (W, 2-3) pitched 2 scoreless innings for the win. He gave up 3 hits. Church was followed by Jeff Walters who came in to pitch a perfect 9th, striking out all 3 batters he faced.
Cesar Puello: (2-5) continued his hot hitting with a 2B, 2 RBI, R, and a SB.
Allan Dykstra: 2-5, 2B, RBI.
Alonzo Harris: 2-3, R. Harris had 2 SB to raise his total for the season to 13.

Las Vegas (19-20) raps Omaha (20-19) 7-3.
 Newly acquired starter Matt Fox (W, 1-0) pitched 5.0 innings allowing 3 ER, 6 H, (2 HR) 0 BB, 6 K.
Three 51’s relievers held the Storm Chasers scoreless the rest of the way. Armando Rodruguez pitched 2.0 innings, allowing a hit and a walk, striking out 3. He was followed by Gonzalez Germen, who pitched a perfect 8th. Josh Edgin, who came in to pitch the 9th, allowed only a walk, and struck out 3.
Collin Cowgill (1-4) had a home run, an RBI and 2 R.
Josh Satin: 2-4, HR, BB, 3 RBI, 2 R.
Andrew Brown: 2-5, 2B, BB, 2R.
Wilmer Flores: 2-4, RBI.
Landon Powell: 1-3, HR, RBI, 2 R.
