The Los Angeles Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw have agreed on a seven-year, $215 million deal, sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com.
Kershaw has an out clause after five years.
It is the richest deal in Major League Baseball history for a pitcher, eclipsing the seven-year, $180 million deal Detroit gave Justin Verlanderlast winter.
But if ever a player deserved a contract such as this, it is the 25-year old Kershaw, who has won two of the last three National League Cy Young Awards and a Roberto Clemente award for his charitable work.

In the bottomless well that appears to be the Dodgers' budget, does this leave room for Tanaka?
They are actually a very profitable team (business)
What fans don't realize is that, if you sell the Mets to a solvent corporation or individual, and a relative reasonable amount of fans returned to the stands based on that sale, the Mets could easily spend $40-50mil more per year on this team.

We fans realize it, that is what is so frustrating. We're not asking to spend Dodger or Yankee money, just Totonto Blue Jay or Cincinnati Reds money. We're too busy haggling over $500K with Latroy Hawkins when the pen needs a vet guy that can pitch late innings if needed. That is downright pathetic.
