FLASH - P - Matt Garza

owner officially announces that the team has come to an agreement with Matt Garza on a four-year deal.

This continues the breaking of the log jam that was around prior to the Tanaka signing. My guess is the teams out there that are in desperate need for a front end starter, will continue signing free agent starters over the next 5-6 days.

What does the Mets have to do with this.

Well, not like the Yankees and Dodgers, off-season money does dry up and the more starters that are signed, the more relievers and shortstops will be around for the picking.

Also, what does this mean for Tyler Thornberg?

It makes Thornburg #6 on the Brewers depth chart, but I don't think it will relax their desire to hold onto him. Besides, with the Brew Crew signing Reynolds to play 1B, they don't need us any more.
