Kirk Nieuwenhuis celebrated his recall with 3 hits, a homer,
3 RBI and a diving catch on Tuesday
night as the Mets beat the Diamondbacks 9-0.
Bronson Arroyo started for the Dbacks and the Mets jumped all over him. The Mets
knocked Arroyo out of the box in 3 1/3 innings amassing all their 9 runs on 10 hits off
him. Jenrry Mejia started for the Mets and blanked
Arizona for 5 innings. He left after 5 and only 77 pitches because of a torn
blister on his finger. Mejia allowed
just 2 hits, no runs he walked 2 and struck out 3. He got the win improving to
2-0. Gonzalez Germen pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief. Kyle Farnsworth
pitched a scoreless ninth. Nieuwenhuis and Eric Young had 3 hits each,
Daniel Murphy and David Wright each had a pair of hits each. Young and Andrew Brown each had 2 RBI, Lucas
Duda drove in a run with a fielder’s choice. The Mets are now at .500 at 7-7. They are 5-3
on the road trip. Wednesday afternoon is the final game of the series and the
road trip as the Mets go for the sweep. Dillon Gee (0-0 5.03) goes for the Mets. Brandon McCarthy
(0-2 7.78) goes for Arizona.

Hopefully blister is a non issue by next start but they want to limit his innings and pitches while winning games. Mission accomplished.
Tell Colon the Michelin tire man has the same back issues he has. I think Colon hurt his back doing too many fork lifts. Mets need to pipe in subminal message in locker room: "Bartolo, stay AWAY from the buffet table"
