Friday Night at Citi Field
Aaron Harang no hit the Mets for 7 innings as the Braves beat the Mets 6-0. Harang was
brilliant on the night leaving after 7 when he reached 121 pitches. It was up to Luis Avialn and the Brave
bullpen to keep the no-no, but with 2 outs in the 8th David Wright
singled to left to break the curse. That hit, was all the Mets could muster. Jon Niese started for the Met and was
terrific, but just not good enough on this night. Niese went 6 strong innings allowing
4 hits 1 run, earned he walked 3 and struck out 7. He takes the hard luck loss
falling to 0-2. The only run off Niese, and the only run the Braves needed came
in the top of the 1st thanks to an RBI double by Chris Johnson. Carlos Torres pitched a scoreless 7th
to keep the Mets close, but then the Braves got to Gonzalez Germen and Scott Rice for 5 runs in the top of the
eight to nail down the win. In the top
of the 9th Justin Upton got to Jeurys Familia for a sac fly to cap
the scoring. David Wright’s hit improved
his hitting streak to 9 straight. The Braves ended up with 12 hits on the night,
Johnson led the way going 3 for 4. Freddie Freeman had a two run homer of
Germen in the 8th his 5th on the year. With the loss the
Mets modest 3 game winning streak goes by the boards. The Mets now stand at 8-8
(2-5 at Citi Field). Saturday night it’s game 2 of the series. Ervin Santana
(1-0 0.64) goes for the Braves, Bartolo
Colon (1-2 6.00) goes for the Mets.

Meh.........it is what it is.
The Mets were not gonna match what they did for three games in arizona.
Germen was not gonna go the rest of the season perfect.
I am actually really worried about Familia, but other then that, move on, go get em tomorrow.
I'm sure it was a tough game to play after losing a good friend and teammate before the game.
