Binghamton 6 - New Hampshire 0

Hansel Robles tossed five shutout innings and the Binghamton Mets cashed in on ten walks to defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The victory, Binghamton’s sixth in seven games, secured their second series win of the year.

The B-Mets threatened in the first and second innings against Aaron Sanchez, but could not crack the scoreboard. With the bases loaded in the first, Sanchez induced Dustin Lawley to bounce back to the mound, starting an inning-ending double play. In the second, Wilfredo Tovar rolled into a threat-nullifying twin-killing.

The first challenge for Robles arose in the third. After a leadoff free pass to Michael Crouse, the Fisher Cats loaded the bases on consecutive one-out singles. Robles ended the threat by striking out Ryan Schimpf and inducing Brad Glenn to ground out.

Binghamton wiped the frustration away with a crooked number in the fourth. They scored their first run of the game without the aid of a hit. Following a leadoff walk to Matt Clark, Sanchez hit consecutive batters and walked Travis Taijeron to force in a run. Xorge Carrillo doubled the lead with a sacrifice fly to center and Wilfredo Tovar made it 3-0 by punching an RBI single to right.
Robles faced his final test in the fifth. Crouse started the inning with a triple down the right field line. Robles hit Kenny Wilson with an 0-2 pitch and walked Schimpf to load the bases with two outs. The B-Mets right-hander escaped the jam unscathed by striking out Brad Glenn.

The B-Mets added to their lead in the seventh. Darrell Ceciliani led off against Richard Bleier with a single to right. He moved to second on a single, stole third and scampered home with Binghamton’s fourth run of the game on a passed ball by Yusuf Carter. Binghamton tacked on two more runs off Wil Browning in the ninth.

Cody Satterwhite took over for Robles and continued the scoreless streak. The right-hander kept the Fisher Cats off the board in the sixth and posted a perfect seventh. John Church struck out the side in the eighth and Jon Velasquez closed the game with a perfect ninth inning.
Robles (1-0) allowed four hits and struck out six to earn his first career Double-A victory. Sanchez (1-1) surrendered three runs on four hits, four walks and three hit batters in his first loss as a Fisher Cat.

The B-Mets (7-3) continue their first road trip of the season Monday night at 6:00 PM in Portland against the Sea Dogs. RHP Greg Peavey makes his second start of the year against LHP Henry Owens. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show begins at 5:45 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
