Northeast Delta Dental Stadium Manchester, NH 6:35 PM

LAST GAME: Rainy Lara faced one over the minimum over seven shutout innings and the B-Mets backed him with three home runs in a 7-0 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Friday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Brian Burgamy ripped a solo homer in the fourth to put the B-Mets on the board and left the yard with another solo trip in the eighth. Matt Clark went deep for the second time as a B-Met. Lara allowed just three hits, struck out three and issued no walks in his second win. The victory stretched Binghamton’s winning streak to five games.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Tyler Pill makes his second start of the season. The right-hander suffered the loss against the Akron RubberDucks in the second game of a doubleheader last Saturday. He allowed three runs on six hits and three walks over four innings. Selected in the 4th round of the 2011 draft out of Cal State Fullerton, Pill was limited to four starts with the B-Mets last season before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.

NEW HAMPSHIRE STARTER: RHP Casey Lawrence makes his third appearance over the season and first start. The righty allowed one run on four hits over four innings in the Fisher Cats’ season-opening road trip. Signed as a non-drafted free agent in June 2010 out of Albright College, Lawrence split the 2013 season between Buffalo (AAA), New Hampshire and Dunedin (High-A). He combined to go 4-7 with a 4.53 ERA in 19 games (18 starts).

MAKE IT FIVE: After being shut out 3-0 against the Akron RubberDucks in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, the B-Mets have rattled off five straight wins. During that span they have hit .299 (52-for-174) as a team with 14 doubles, one triple and six home runs. They have outscored opponents by a 35-9 tally.

A LOOK AT THE STREAK: A win today would stretch Binghamton’s winning steak to six, matching their longest winning streak of the 2013 season. The B-Mets were unbeaten in six straight games from June 6 to June 12 last season en route to tallying a franchise-record 86 wins.

GOING DEEP: B-Mets infielder Brian Burgamy teed off for a pair of solo home runs on Friday night. It was the first multiple-home run game for a B-Met since Wilfredo Tovar went deep twice against the Altoona Curve on August 7, 2013. Burgamy hit 32 home runs with four different teams last year.

A GREAT START: The B-Mets have jumped out to a 6-2 record in their first eight games. It is their best start since they opened the 2006 campaign with a 7-1 mark.

KEEPING IT ALIVE: B-Mets outfielder Darrell Ceciliani stretched his season-opening hitting streak to six games with an RBI single in the eighth inning on Friday night. Ceciliani is hitting .360 (9-for-25) to start the season with three doubles, a triple and six RBI.

STARTERS SETTING THE TONE: With eight games under their belt, the B-Mets starting rotation has gone 4-2 with a 2.25 ERA.

MAKING ‘EM WORTH IT: Of Binghamton’s 68 hits this season, 40% (27) have gone for extra-bases, including 19 doubles, two triples and six home runs. It is the highest ratio among Eastern League teams. They lead the league with a .429 slugging percentage.

SOMETHING ABOUT MANCHESTER: In their first two games at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, the B-Mets have launched five home runs. In 12 games on the road against the Fisher Cats last year, the B-Mets collected 18 home runs. Binghamton went 7-5 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium last year.

I guess it helps to have 27 and 31 year old veterans on your AA ball team. Along with outfield prospects who belong in Vegas right now................
But hey, each minor league club is its own entity.....good for the people of Binghamton, to have a winning team to watch.
