Hammerheads pull away late, beat Mets 11-0
Jupiter hands St. Lucie fourth straight loss

JUPITER, Fla. (April 8, 2014) -
 The St. Lucie Mets dropped their fourth straight game on Tuesday, an 11-0 decision against the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Austin Brice held the Mets to just three hits over five innings while striking out seven. Relievers Chipper Smith and Frankie Reed combined to go the rest of the way to complete the shutout. The Mets have now been held scoreless for 21 consecutive innings.

The game was close until the seventh. The Hammerheads scored once in the first and once more in the fourth on a sac fly to take a 2-0 lead. But after a short rain delay in the seventh, Austin Barnes tagged Beck Wheeler for a two-run homer that made it 5-0.

The contest unraveled in the eight when Jupiter plated six runs on seven hits, all against Julian Hilario. Ross Wilson and Noah Perio collected RBI singles while Matt Juengel finished the scoring with a two-run single that made it 11-0.

The Hammerheads pounded out 17 hits. Terrence Dayleg went 4 for 5 and Barnes and Viosergy Rosa had three-hit nights. The only Hammerhead without a hit was leadoff man Cameron Flynn who went 0 for 5.

Luis Cessa took the loss for the Mets, although he only gave up two runs over six innings. He scattered eight hits. - team press release
