Mets Minor League Report: April 13, 2014




MMLR Players of the Day: St. Lucie Starter, Domingo Tapia

 

 
Las Vegas (8-3) wallops Fresno (4-7) 5-1.



Montero the Magnificent (W, 2-0) is at it again. 6.1 IP, 2 R, 2 H, (HR) 2 BB, 4 K.
Dana Eveland sparkled: 1.2 innings: 0 R, H, BB.
Erik Goeddel pitched the 9th, giving up in 1 inning what Montero allowed in 6+ : 2 R, 2 H, (HR) 2 BB.

Chris Young, in a rehab assignment, showed signs of recovery, providing fully half of the 51‘s offense: 5-5, 2 HR, 2B, 5 RBI, 4 R. Unfortunately, following the rule I articulated last night, Young will not be eligible the be the MMLR Player of the Day.
Eric Campbell: 1-3, 2B, 2 BB, 2 R.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis: 1-4, 2 RBI.

 

Binghamton (7-3) blanks New Hampshire (3-7) 6-0


 

Hansel Robles (W, 1-0) had a stellar day: 5.0 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K. And the bull pen was nothing short of outstanding.
Cody Satterwhite, (2.0 IP, R, 2 H, (HR) BB) followed by John Church (3 K) and Jon Velasquez (2 K) each of whom pitched a perfect inning.

Darrell Ceciliani, (2-5, R, SB) raised his avg. to .367.
An unusual day for Matt Clark: 0-0, 5 BB, 2 R.
Dustin Lawley: 1-4, 2B, RBI, R.
Wilfredo Tovar: 2-4, RBI, R. Fredo is now hitting .370.

 

 

St. Lucie (6-4) stings Fort Myers (6-4) 6-3


Do you believe that Domingo Tapia pitched 5.0 innings of no hit ball when he reached his pitch limit: 2 BB, 2 K.
Seth Lugo: 3.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 2 K.
Randy Fontanez, (S, 2) called upon to get the last out, struck out his man.

Dilson Herrera rocked: 4-5, 2B, R.
Brandon Nimmo: 1-5, 2B, R.
Aderlin Rogriguez: 1-3, 2B, BB, RBI, R.
Gilbert Gomez: 2-2, HR, 2 BB, 2 RBI, R.

 

Savannah (7-3) slaps Rome (3-8) 6-2.


 
Chris Flexen pitched well, but left on the short end, down 2-0: 6,1 IP, 2 R, 6 H, BB, 4 K.
Akeel Morris (W, 1-0) did exactly what he was called upon to do, holding the Braves scoreless the rest of the way: 2.2 IP, 0 R, H, BB, 3 K.

Meanwhile, the pesky Sand Gnats picked Flexen up, scoring 6 runs in the final 2 innings.
SS Gavin Cecchini, leading off today: 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R.
Jeff McNeil: 1-4, HR, 2 RBI, R.
Stefan Sabol: 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI.
Patrick Biondi: 2-3, 3B, 2 R.

A lot of fine performances. These 4 minor league teams seem poised to win more than 60% of their games again.

Tejada may be getting a little concerned over Fredo (and even the slow-starting Flores, if latter's fielding is adequate). Tejada's average looks more like 2013 than 2012...not good for Mets or Ruben.
