Michael Baron/Just Mets and MLB Part Company

Effective immediately, my affiliation between Just Mets and MLB will discontinue. Thanks for your support, but that is all I can say now.
Mack - I have no other details on this at this moment but I am sure my good friend will land somewhere to still post and represent the Mets.
My only advice right now is to take some time off and play with family.

While i hate to see anyone lose a job, I think this was the right move.

Michael Baron needs to take writing courses, learn professional writing for professional publication, concise, to the point. His habit of repeatedly stating the obvious, and rambling, was very annoying, a time-waster and rather amateurish.

He can fix this, study hard, get back on his horse, and be the better for it.

Well those are some spiteful things to say anonymously.

Just Mets, Rubin and Macks Mets have been my go to sources. I think Baron did a nice job and I hope he continues to follow and write about the Mets, if not it will be a loss for the community I think. Tried to communicate via twitter numerous times but it seemed like he focused on responding to trolls and was never involved in the comments section to help build a community (my only criticisms).

Dallas, I'm not being spiteful. I have no ill will toward Baron.

I just expect professional style writing from an MLB publication. There's no way to sugarcoat an honest observation and expectation - drawing distinction between fan blog, such as Metsblog from which Baron came, vs. higher journalistic standards of an institution such as MLB.

I hope Baron has a long career as writer if that's what he wants. I just think there's plenty room for improvement and that he's capable of it.

Im willing to look at both Dallas and Anon side of this.

I often believe in the old saying "damned of you do damned if you don't". If Baron simply reports an news update or flash there would be 'fans' who clown him for being a tool, ownership lacky or boring. However now we're saying that if goes 'off script' and includes his own thoughts, sarcasm and opinions it can be seen by some as non professional.

I agree that he oddly spent a ton of time, on both twotter and facebook, responding to trolls. Im happy to have had many Twitter convo with him on a positive level though.
And I agree that for whatever reason he never really wrote in the comment section of his own just mets site to continue dialogue with people.

I read what you say and then close my eyes and see a member of the established Associated Press trained beat press writing your comments.

I'm not associated with the AP or any news outlet.

Baron could cut his words by half or third and say exact thing.

Example - 4-21-15

Headline -

"Travis d’Arnaud’s hand is better than expected, Jerry Blevins’ wrist is not"

Some Content -

"He is viewed as an offensive-oriented catcher who’s defense continues to improve behind the plate.

Team insiders have said there continues to be no plan to move either Plawecki or d’Arnaud out from behind the plate in the short-term. Plawecki has played first base at times in the minor leagues, but the design for that was to keep him fresh while getting him at-bats on a daily basis.

So, it’s logical to conclude Plawecki will be optioned back to Triple-A when d’Arnaud is ready to return. But, while this is earlier than expected and not the circumstances in which he or the team would have liked, Plawecki is either ready, or very close to being ready, and he is going to get an opportunity to shine for the big league club.

What happens from here at the position remains to be seen, but the good problem the Mets had at the position has been resolved, at least for now.

- Here's Headline Correction And Edits in CAPS.

"Travis d’Arnaud’s hand is better than expected, Jerry Blevins’ wrist is not"

D'ARNAUD'S PINKIE BETTER THAN EXPECTED, BLEVINS'S FOREARM IS NOT.

He is viewed as an offensive-oriented catcher who’s defense continues to improve behind the plate.

HE'S VIEWED AS OFFENSIVE-ORIENTED CATCHER WITH IMPROVING DEFENSE.

Team insiders have said there continues to be no plan to move either Plawecki or d’Arnaud out from behind the plate in the short-term.

TEAM INSIDERS SAY THERE'S NO PLAN TO SHIFT EITHER TO ANOTHER POSITION.

Plawecki has played first base at times in the minor leagues, but the design for that was to keep him fresh while getting him at-bats on a daily basis.

PLAWECKI HAS OCCASIONALLY PLAYED FIRST BASE IN THE MINORS TO STAY FRESH AND IN LINEUP.

PLAWECKI WILL LIKELY RETURN TO AAA VEGAS WHEN D'ARNAUD RETURNS, BUT TEAM OFFICIALS BELIEVE HE HAS BRIGHT FUTURE IN THE MAJORS, AND CLOSE TO READY.

What happens from here at the position remains to be seen, but the good problem the Mets had at the position has been resolved, at least for now

(This last paragraph, unnecessary)

And that sums up whats wrong with the internet. Too bad time spend bashing Baron wasn't spent on something more constructive and interesting to people.

Lol...........
Hey Mack starting next week I would like to make all of my weekly posts about 5 sentences. Get straight to the point. No use for any additional thoughts or information ;)
