Very nice results for our boys, especially the hot Carillo.

I can't help feeling like despite our depth, Montero's health and development will be big for this team. Pretty sure that (if healthy) he starts the year in the Vegas rotation, and if he shows well there (and isn't added to the ML rotation due to injury), he's either a candidate for a deadline trade, or gets added as a significant bullpen piece down the stretch. I like the kid and think he's got a nice #2/3 ceiling (on a normal staff).

I'm actually very worried about Montero's performance in DR. Yes he hasn't given up a run....but....during the Dominican League playoffs he has faced 23 batters so far.....and has struck out....1 guy. That's it.

For a league that is generally regarded as a AAA league in terms of talent for Montero to only have 1 K so far tells me either his breaking stuff is not great or his fastball has lost some zip.

Granted....all we have are stats....so we won't know what the truth is until he reports for camp.

You do realize that this is spring training for Montero right? he didn't pitch much in 2015 so this is just spring training for him.

@Anonymous

Not really....Montero spent a month in instructional and roughly another 2-3 weeks in the Dominican Leagues "minor league" system before jumping to the parent league.

As i stated though....all we have are stats....we won't know what the truth is until he reports for MLB camp.
