    IF Vinny Siena - 2017:  A-Col/A+-St. Lucie  219-AB  .169

Griset pitched very well the past two seasons - maybe he just did not have big league stuff potential, or came in hurt. Sad.

Other 2 are no surprise.

Frankly, I was a little surprised at the Griset move, but some thing has to give on that pen.

I currently, after the Griset move, have the following to consider for the Vegas pen:

P.J. Conlon
Matt Purke
Jamie Callahan
Fernando Abad
Kevin McGowan
Hansel Robles
Drew Gagnon
Kyle Regnault
Drew Smith
Tim Peterson
David Roseboom
Kelly Secrest
Ricky Knapp
Logan Taylor

Am very surprised they released Griset. I don't know anything about his tools and health, but he put up solid numbers his whole career.

2.36 era. 7.9/2.5 K/BB per 9 and...a lefty.

If someone knows why he was released, please reveal. Thanks.

About Siena - for awhile he showed good on base but has since faltered and doesn't have a carrying tool.

Berrios was signed out of Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy and never got on track.

Hope these guys get opportunity elsewhere if that's what they want. Based on numbers and left-handedness, I figure Griset most likely will.

And Blazing Tyler Bashlor, assuming Uceta is targeted for AA and not AAA - given the logjam, I would have him targeted at AA. An amazing list.

Blazers Blackham and Bautista both not too far behind them.

So, for Griset, those 2017 trades for relievers crowded him out.

And Robles is one guy who unexpectedly is in a huge crowd now. He'll have to earn his way back.

Mack Ade -

Robles, Purke, Callahan and Abad are almost certainly locks although Abad might need extended spring training in light of recent signing.

That leaves 3-5 spots.

I thought Gagnon pitched fairly well in his recent Mets start..certainly better than I expected.

Do we really know whether the Mets view him as reliever? He's started 120 of 180 games. Based on his career performance, I think Mets should send him to AA and determine his role.

I think Conlon belongs in AAA. Are the Mets totally committed to bullpen conversion?

If so, I think he's also a Vegas pen lock.

I think Drew Smith begins the season in AA.

So too Logan Taylor.

Did you omit or confuse him with Corey Taylor?

I think Corey should spend some more time in AA.

So too Secrest who hasn't yet excelled in AA.

Peterson, Bashlor to AAA.

Is Roseboom healthy? Didn't he have TJ surgery?

Long Time -

There sure are a hell of a lot of Taylor's on this team...

As I understand, Gagnon is considered as a starters and Conlon is now a permanent reliever. As in the past, I could be wrong.

Mets minors said Roseboom would start the season on the Binghamton DL. Dave told me last week he's 100%, but he hasn't pitched a stitch all spring. We'll have t wait until the roster is named next week on this one.

additional names I have on paper in the Bing pen:

Tyler Bashlor
Adonis Uceta
Eric Hanhold
Briam Campusano
one of the Taylors
Joshua Torres
Daniel Zamora

@Thomas Brennan -

If Griset was crowded out, I take that to mean the Mets weren't high on his stuff, make up or potential despite the stats.

I can't see them dropping a high end talent especially a talented lefty. Perhaps he's more akin to Gilmartin than a young Edgin.

@Mack Ade

Thanks.

Certainly are a lot of Taylors.

I think you're most likely right about Bashlor to AA. I put him in AAA, but his lack of command and just 12 AA appearances which I overlooked, warrants more time there. If he ever masters command and secondary stuff, he'll be nasty. His fastball is explosive - and is such a competitor.

I gotta give thumbs up to Sandy for his collection of good young bullpen arms. In the next, year, two or three, we're going to be stacked with high end arms for the majors.

Bashlor does need sharper command.Jack Leathersich shows where bad command gets you. Hopefully 2018 is Tyler's year.

Given Griset's numbers,it seems very strange that a trade couldn't be worked out for someone else''s excess position player.

Mack---Since Roseboom says he's healthy, did he have any explanation for not pitching at all in ST?

Any word on Anthony Kay?
