Scouting Report - SS - Cody Schrier

Cody Schrier

SS    6-1    195    JSerra HS (CA)

PG -

Cody Schrier is a 2021 SS/IF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from San Clemente, CA who attends JSerra Catholic. Athletic build with good present strength. 6.63 runner in the sixty, 4.18 home to first. Is very athletic and balanced in the middle of the infield, can play fast and on the run, makes accurate throws from multiple arm slots, has feel for playing defense, arm strength at present is more ideal for second base but would be outstanding at that position. Right handed hitter, hits well against his front side, quick hands create barrel whip and bat speed, swings with intent but not tension

MLB -

Cody Schrier, SS, JSerra Catholic HS (Calif.) -- Scouts think this UCLA commit and teammate of Gage Jump has a real chance to hit. He has excellent raw power with a projectable frame. He’s a good athlete who can run and has enough arm for short, but he might outgrow the position and move to third.

Prospect Worldwide -

Cody Schrier – SS: Capable of playing Above-Average Defense all around the infield dirt with leadership qualities that would excite any franchise come Draft Day. Showing off an improved Hit Tool this summer that has seen him make more consistent hard contact with much more balance at the plate as well as increased bat speed and ability to turn on the inside Fastball. Has some troubles with balls on the outer half, but has been showing improvements there as well. Shows some pull side power that grades as a 45 Future grade. Schrier’s talent, leadership, makeup, and ability to play a premium position make him a dream prospect for teams.

Prospects Live -

Cody Schrier - If you like consistency, Schrier is the bat for you. He has been a consistent performer on the circuit this summer with a powerful swing that has generated loud contact wherever he has gone. Hailing from SoCal powerhouse JSerra Catholic, the UCLA commit did not have the best game, as he struck out once and flew out twice after, but he did showcase well at shortstop with a strong arm and good instincts. He has great bat speed and has good power from the right side that plays well. His lone strikeout did come from Chase Petty’s cement mixer of a slider, but managed to make good contact against Mason Albright’s fastball and Irving Carter’s splitter.

This guy Schreier seems like a 5th to 10th rounder in a draft this deep, just as a guess. Fast, good arm, decent bat. Already.
